History

Mizuho International plc is the London based securities and investment banking arm of one the world's largest banking groups, the Mizuho Financial Group and is the product of a merger of the international securities subsidiaries of the Dai-Ichi Kangyo, Fuji and Industrial Bank of Japan banking groups in December 2000.

As Japan’s leading investment banking group, Mizuho International and Mizuho Securities are building a major presence in the international markets. Together they offer wide ranging securities and investment banking services, including tailored asset and liability advisory and financing services in the debt and equity markets, to a diverse range of corporate and institutional clients.

Mizuho International focuses its resources on intermediation between clients in the Asian, European and North American time-zones in the debt and equity markets, and in directing cross-border capital flows between Japan and the international markets.

Mizuho International has over 400 members of staff based at their prominent Bracken House offices.

The Mizuho Name

In Japanese, "mizuho" means "a fresh harvest of rice," and the phrase "mizuho country" - meaning "fruitful country" - is used to refer poetically to Japan. The name "Mizuho" expresses commitment of the Mizuho Financial Group, as Japan's leading financial institution to offer highly fruitful financial products and services to all of its customers, both in Japan and abroad.

The Mizuho Logo

The brand logo is a simple yet sophisticated logotype in blue underscored by a striking red arc. The arc represents the sun rising over the horizon.

The logotype represents our employees’ commitment and passion in everything they do.

The two colors used in our brand logo were created specially for the Mizuho Financial Group. Cosmic blue, as used in the logotype, symbolizes reliability, integrity, world scale and quality. Horizon red, used for the arc, represents the warm relationships between the Mizuho Financial Group and its customers, as well as humanity and passion.
